SKIRMISH: The Knight-Errant of the High Tower

"It is said that, long ago, a great nation lay stretched across the four corners of the land. During this golden age of peace and prosperity, the nation was the pinnacle of education, freedom, and hubris. So great was their pride that, when an enemy arose, they sent only a single Knight to face the mysterious army. Seeing the vast strength of the foe before them, the Knight stood their ground, lowering their pike to accept the charge. With every charge that came and went, the Knight still stood, and, yet, with every charge they were pushed backwards ever so slightly. For years the charges came, and with each charge the line of battle was pushed back, and, as the Knight stood alone, the enemy rushed around them and over the nation. Eventually, the entire nation was subsumed, and still the Knight stood. They had been pushed far into the northern reaches of the world, where there stood a high tower of volcanic rock, cooled by the frigid winds and centuries. Their nation destroyed, the Knight wept, and, having nothing left to protect, withdrew into the tower to rest. Ever since that day, they say, the Knight-Errant of the High Tower sleeps, awaiting a day when they might rise again to stand against every charge, alone as they ever were, forever cursed to protect that which will not protect itself."

The Knight-Errant of the High Tower is an army that can be put to use by Ventrasse generals in the wargame Skirmish, by Biscuit Fund Games. While most armies have a number of units to deploy in a tactical situation, the Knight-Errant of the High Tower stands alone against an enemy army. While initially powerful but still limited, the Knight can gather their powerful Artifacts as the battle rages, turning them into an unstoppable juggernaut with a wide variety of weapons and combat options.
